About

The Ivinghoe Velos are a group of residents of the Buckinghamshire villages Ivinghoe and Pitstone that get together regularly for a bike ride. It is suitable for all fitness and equipment levels. Lycra and carbon fibre definitely not essential !  The main rides are from the Rose and Crown Pub in Ivinghoe at :

10.00am Every Saturday:  This ride is suitable for all.  About 10-15 miles and includes a tea stop about half way round.  We will go at the pace of the slowest rider, so this is a good introduction to Velos rides if you are just starting out, or are just looking for a sociable ride.  We aim to be back at The Rose and Crown by 12.00. Routes for this ride will be decided by the group on the day. There will generally be someone leading the ride although not always.

10.00am Every Sunday:  This ride is usually about 26 miles, aiming to be back at The Rose and Crown for about 12.00. Often it splits into two smaller groups, one doing about 14-15 mph, and another doing about 12mph. Slower riders welcome, but please bring a copy of the route.

Mid-week rides: Occasionally we arrange rides on other days including some off road adventures. As these tend to be a bit more ad-hoc, they are not always posted on the website. If you are interested in these sort of rides it is worth following our twitter account @Vinghoevelos for the latest info.

We do not see ourselves as serious cyclists but keen hobby riders who enjoy the company of likeminded sociable ‘athletes’!  The focus is to support all members of the group to achieve what they want to from each and every ride and to have FUN.  Each ride usually finishes at the Rose and Crown and we try to leave there before 5pm!

We welcome ALL cyclists so please encourage friends from all over the area, the more the merrier.  All of the main rides will be published on the website and if you subscribe to the mailing list you will be notified as soon as they are posted.

Something else for the more experienced Road Rider : If you are looking for rides that are a bit harder and have an earlier start, we can thoroughly recommend the nearby Tring Velo Club.

Boring legal stuff : Those who lead out a group, the route planners, those who send the postings out each week, and those who organise things like our trip to France, in no way make any assurances as to the safety of any rides organised under the ‘Ivnghoe Velos’ banner. Each participant is wholly responsible for their own safety, road worthiness of their steed, legal requirements to abide by the highway code and any insurances each individual feels are necessary.
